Practices:
Organic, non-certified.
Pest and Disease Management:
organic methods, prevention, mulching, beneficial insect habitat crops, etc.
Feeding Practices:
Sheep are primarily grass-fed, organic grain, organic hay when available. Sheep are hormone and drug-free, so could be called "natural" but not organic due to use of anti-wormer twice a year.
Soil and Nutrient Management:
Compost is primary nutrient source, from plant materials, chicken manure, and sheep manure.
Water Usage Practices:
Use rural water, soaker hoses.
Conservation/Land Stewardship Practices:
Most of land is in grass, windbreak on North edge of property, high plant diversity on our 10 acre farm.
Additional Information:
Raise herbs for home use, some culinary herbs to sell. Wool products include raw wool, pelts, wool batts for quilts and felting, roving, and hand-spun yarn.
Organic Products:
Fruits, vegetables, herbs.
