Parks Pasture Pork

Introduction:
I have been a pork producer for many years, been an organic farmer for the last 12 years and have been producing organic pork for the last 3 years. Many of you know me as the pork guy at Manhattan Farmers Market. All of my pork products are sold frozen. They are fresh frozen, direct from the farm to the locker where the animals are processed into cuts then immediately frozen.

About Us:
"Pork with a difference" is truly what my product is all about. Husbandry, animal welfare, raised in a sustainable system on organic feed that is mostly produced on my organic farm. Hogs raised the way nature intended, no antibiotics or growth stimulants from breeds and stock that maintains meat flavor and tenderness. I would like it if more people would visit the farm, and buy at the farm, we're located just 4 miles east of Manhattan on Kansas Hwy. 18.

Highlights:
Before I started selling my pork as organic, I sold to Niman Ranch Pork Company. One year I was awarded for having the highest meat quality of the producers selling to them at that time.

Products:
Pasture raised pork and organic sweetcorn in season

Practices:
Crops and swine are raised on a certified organic farm. The pork is not labled organic due to processing.

Pest and Disease Management:
Due to outdoor production with plenty of sunshine and fresh air, our swine stay healthy.

Feeding Practices:
Fed only certified organic grains and soybean meal. The animals are raised on land that is rotated with crops.

Soil and Nutrient Management:
Since certified organic, our crop nutrients are supplied by green manures and animal manures.

Water Usage Practices:
Animals have a constant fresh water supply.

Conservation/Land Stewardship Practices:
Pigs are born on pasture and we work to maintain grass or crop residue cover where hogs are raised.

Additional Information:
We continually monitor meat quality and use specific breeds to improve our product.

Organic Products:
Sweetcorn
